Did voluntary work with people with HIV at London Lighthouse, the Terrence Higgins Trust and at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital from 1990 to 2006. Worksed as a volunteer at Westminster Abbey for 20 years after putting up a memorial there to the Countess of Pembroke (1304-1377) in 1992. Amateur genealogist. Wrote ‘Ten Generations: Looking Backwards in Time’ (St Christopher Press, 2003), ‘The Milk Jug was a Goat: Two families, two Caribbean Islands, 1635-1987’ (Pegasus, 2008) and ‘My Life’ (St Christopher Press, 2010). Has contributed four entries to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biogtraphy and three artcles to the journal of the Society of Genealogists. Served as an elected governor of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for eight years. Has lived in Fulham, London, for more than 50 years.
